Fifth Annual Bristol Quaker Peace Lecture
The Annual Peace Lecture was given on 12 May 2018 by Helen Kidan, a prominent Eritrean Human Rights Activist. Helen drew on her personal experience of the Eritrean conflict and a large audience at the Wills Memorial Building included members of local African and refugee communities as well as many Bristol Quakers. A lively discussion followed the lecture, addressing the relationship between diaspora politics and resistance to oppression within Eritrea as well as aspects of women’s gendered experience and the practicalities of refugee lives in Bristol. Helen has since sent us the full text of her lecture, for publication on the Redland Quaker website.
