Young Quakers contribute to a show in Refugee Week

Young Friends were lucky to work with Fiona Hamilton (writer and Redland Quaker) to be part of a show which brought them together with ‘Finding Words’ (a creative writing group of refugees and asylum seekers) and Kaltun (a local poet of Somali origins).

Through a few clever writing exercises, we noticed beauty and harshness in the world and uncovered common cares, concerns and aims. These were expertly woven into a spoken word piece performed in Bristol Refugee Week by the ‘Finding Words’ group, Kaltun and Malachy Giles (young Quaker). This was part of the LARA Showcase, showcasing arts by local refugees and asylum seekers.
