Friday 12th April 19 3.00 to 4.30 pm
Cascade Steps (City Centre end of Docks), Broad Quay, Bristol BS1 4DA
Come along –
Enjoy a powerful and moving performance and show your support for the Extinction Rebellion actions against climate change
Using the sinking of the Titanic as a metaphor for the imminent crisis we are all facing, the dockside performance will take place against a large painting of the Titanic disaster. The performance will include actors dressed as national and international politicians re-arranging the deckchairs whilst a flash mob of musicians play 1912 music as the Titanic/Earth sinks.
The action will be silent, apart from the musicians and a giant foghorn and a rousing rendition, at the end, of ‘Abide with Me’ (with alternative words provided on the day!)
Take part –
The Action is highly choreographed and we will need around 20 placard holdersfor the narrative placards that will lead down to the ‘stage’.
We also need people just to come along to blend in with the crowd that will gather, in amongst which, the musicians will be hidden.
Please note – The action is weather-dependant as the musicians have expensive musical instruments so please check the Bristol XR website, 24 hours before the event.
This is an Extinction Rebellion Performance Action led by the EarthQuakes(mainly Quakers) and EvergreensXR Affinity Groups, together with the Insight Ensemble. (Watch Insight Ensemble here)
We are hoping that this Performance Action can also be recreated in London the following week on Tuesday 16th April – watch this space…..
