Homeless Sunday is on 7th October 2018 – at the start of the week which includes World Homeless Day (October 10th).
Housing Justice is a Christian charity that works across England & Wales with a vision:
” … of a society where everyone has access to a home that truly meets their needs.”
It receives funding for managing several services which include migrant hosting and Faith in Affordable Housing.
Housing Justice is possibly best known for encouraging and enabling the church and community winter night shelter programme which now has over 500 venues welcoming over 2,000 people during winter months. This includes the 12 churches in Bristol involved last Winter run by volunteers from over 60 churches over 3 months from January to March. Many of these shelter projects will have received the Housing Justice Quality Mark which demonstrates a consistent high standard of service provided.
One of the main roles Housing Justice has is to galvanize Christian action on homelessness and promoting action on homelessness as an integral part of mission. As part of this role they support and promote Homeless Sunday which falls this year on October 7th (www.housingjustice.org.uk/Event/homeless-sunday-2018) at the start of the week of World Homeless Day (October 10th).
Homeless Sunday often raises money for individual churches action on homelessness but rarely in direct support of the background work that Housing Justice have done to support the event. I am appealing, on this Homeless Sunday, for support for the work of Housing Justice (www.housingjustice.org.uk)
